Fleets

Flying Scot, Melges 24, PHRF

Dave grew up in San Diego, where the excitement of Dennis Conner bringing the America's Cup back to America and San Diego Yacht Club in 1987 sparked his passion for sailing. He spent years racing big boats on San Diego Bay, participating in local and offshore regattas. When Dave met his wife Stacey, she quickly became part of his sailing life, learning to sail and packing spinnakers on weekends.

Dave moved to Texas in 2007 and immediately found his home at RCYC. With over 10,000 offshore sailing miles, he has competed in multiple Newport-to-Ensenada races, the 2017 Transpac as watch captain, Swiftsure as watch captain and coach, and six Chicago Race to Mackinaw as navigator and watch captain.

Dave has been an active presence in multiple RCYC fleets. He was an early adopter of the Melges 24 fleet, racing hull #1 for many years, and won the overall George Griffith regatta trophy in 2013 and 2014 with his Catalina 27. He has served previously as a fleet representative and rear-commodore.

Dave and Stacey are proud to have watched their daughter Avery and son Colin grow up at Rush Creek.
