About the Boat
Fast, Flat, and Competitive
The MC Scow was developed in 1956 by the Melges and Johnson families as a redesign of the classic J Scow. Its flat scow hull with dual retractable bilgeboards gives it exceptional speed and responsiveness. Fleet 5 at Rush Creek is one of 100+ fleets nationwide and has been racing on Lake Ray Hubbard for over 40 years.
Racing runs Sundays at 2pm from September through June, switching to 6pm Saturday evenings in July and August. The fleet hosts three regattas per year including the legendary Black Tie event, and competes at the MC Nationals, Midwinters, and Blue Chip.
