Flying Scot
Flying Scot
Rush Creek Yacht Club is home to Flying Scot Fleet 209. We race on Sunday afternoons except in the summer when we shift to Saturday evenings for cooler temperatures and hopefully enough wind to sail in. In addition to club racing, Flying Scots will sail in RCYC's annual Spring DinghyFest and Fall DinghyFest regattas.
History
The Flying Scot is a 19 ft centerboard sloop designed by Gordon K. “Sandy” Douglass. She's 19 ft long and sailed by two or three people. Over 6100 boats have been built since production started in 1957. The Flying Scot was inducted into the American Sailboat Hall of Fame in 1998.
Class Association and Builder
The Flying Scot Sailing Association (FSSA) manages the one-design aspect of the boat while Flying Scot, Inc., works closely with the class association to build boats that meet the one-design requirements and support existing boat owners.
Feel free to contact RCYC's Flying Scot Fleet Rep if you would like to sail with us.
