About the Boat
Designed to Last
Designed by Sandy Douglass in 1957, the Flying Scot is a 19-foot centerboard sloop sailed by two or three people. Over 6,100 boats have been built. Inducted into the American Sailboat Hall of Fame in 1998. Its generous beam and forgiving handling make it one of the best family racing boats ever built.
Fleet 209 at Rush Creek races Sunday afternoons in cooler months, shifting to Saturday evenings in summer. The fleet participates in RCYC's Spring and Fall DinghyFest regattas.
