About RCYC

Commodore's Welcome

A message from the 2026 RCYC Commodore David Christensen.

Welcome

Welcome to Rush Creek Yacht Club.

It is my honor to serve as your 2026 Commodore. Rush Creek has been a home on the water for over 57 years, and every year I am reminded of what makes this club exceptional: the people, the competition, and the community that forms around both.

Lake Ray Hubbard is one of the great inland sailing venues in the country. On any given weekend you will find competitive one-design racing across seven active fleets, families introducing their children to sailing for the first time, and members gathered on our 4,500-square-foot deck watching the fleet come in at sunset. That combination — genuine competition alongside genuine community — is what sets Rush Creek apart.

This year, our focus is on growth: growing our membership, growing our youth program, and growing the quality of racing for every sailor from beginners to national competitors. We are investing in our facilities and our programs, and I believe the best years of this club are still ahead of us.

Whether you are a lifelong sailor or picking up a line for the first time, you will find a home here. Our members are generous with their time, their boats, and their expertise. I have never met a group of people more willing to help a fellow sailor get better on the water.

I invite you to come see us. Walk the dock, watch a race, and meet the people who have made Rush Creek their club for decades. I think you will understand very quickly why this place is so special.

Fair winds and following seas.
