About the Boat
The J/24, Reimagined
The IC-24 was conceived by Chris Rosenberg in St. Thomas after Hurricane Marilyn devastated the St. Thomas Yacht Club racing fleet. Working with local builder Morgan Avery, Rosenberg converted a surviving J/24 into an open "sport boat" style cockpit, creating an affordable one-design inter-club keelboat that could seat five people comfortably. Using standard J/24 mainsail, jib, and spinnaker made the conversion practical and cost-effective.
The IC-24 fleet participates in the Wednesday night PHRF series, the Sunday afternoon one-design series, and open regattas. RCYC owns a fleet of IC-24s available to Regular and Associate members through the Club Boat Program.
