The Most Popular Sailboat Ever Built
The Sunfish was introduced by Alcort in 1952 and has become the most widely sold fiberglass sailboat in history, with over 300,000 built. Its lateen rig, flat hull, and 120-pound weight make it accessible to sailors of all ages and experience levels. In 1995 it was inducted into the American Sailboat Hall of Fame as "the most popular fiberglass boat ever designed."
At Rush Creek, Sunfish racing runs year-round in two series: the Frozen Fish Series in winter and the Tune-a-Fish Series the rest of the year. Fleet members range from complete beginners to National and World Championship sailors — everyone races together.
